PhoneCam Manual
PhoneCam contains a main and settings view.
Main
PhoneCam's main view displays the camera preview and has controls to start/stop capture and access settings. It also shows the current capture status and statistics.

The title bar at the top of the view contains a capture light and a settings button. The capture light is on the left and shows when PhoneCam is capturing. It will light up and turn red while capturing. To modify settings, tap the i button on the right.

The preview displayed shows the camera's current image. Changing the orientation of the device may change the image dimensions (from portrait to landscape, for example). The resulting image that is uploaded will match the image displayed in the preview.

The bottom toolbar contains PhoneCam's current status, the capture button, and statistics. The left side shows the current status which includes Idle, Capturing, Processing, Uploading, and a countdown to the next scheduled capture. The center of the toolbar contains the capture button. Tap it to begin capturing and uploading images. Tap it again to stop capturing. The button icon contains a red circle for capturing and a white rectangle to stop capture. The right side of the toolbar shows the number of images captured and the number successfully uploaded. These numbers may not be the same since uploads may complete much later than the image captures or may fail.

An activity indicator is displayed over the center of the preview when an image is currently being captured.

Settings
The settings view lets you change connect, webcam, and image settings. Settings may only be modified while in preview mode. They may still be viewed while capturing, however.

It should not include a path or the ftp:// prefix. Both the server name and host must be set before saving the server. The path field represents the path on the server where you want the uploaded image file to be written. It may be relative (without a leading '/') or an absolute path (with a leading '/'). The username and password fields are for the required login for the server. To save the server, tap the Save button. To discard it, tap the Cancel button.

Update Interval

The Update Interval setting sets how often an image is captured. It includes Manual, Continuous, 5 seconds up to 24 hours, and Custom. The Manual setting allows you to capture an image at arbitrary time intervals. Just press the capture button whenever you want a new image to be captured and uploaded. The Continuous setting will capture and upload images as fast as possible. The other intervals will capture an image at the predefined interval. They may be delayed, however, if the previous image is still being processed or uploaded. The Custom setting allows you to enter a custom number of seconds as the time interval.

Replace Images

Tap the Replace Images switch to replace or save each image after capture. If the switch is on, the uploaded image will always replace the last image uploaded. If the switch is off, each image is given a unique file name when uploaded (e.g. image-1.jpg, image-2.jpg, etc.).

Starting File Number

The Starting File Number setting is used when the Replace Images switch is set to off. This is the starting number used when generating incrementing file names. For example, if you set this to 100, the uploaded files will be named image-100.jpg, image-101.jpg, etc.. The setting is only enabled when the Replace Images switch is set to off.

Image Type

The Image Type setting sets the image type to either JPEG or PNG. PNG provides a lossless compression while JPEG provides smaller image sizes (and control over quality).

Image Quality

The Image Quality slider setting is only enabled when the Image Type is set to JPEG. Setting it to 0 will provide the greatest compression (and smallest file sizes) but worst image quality while setting it to 100 provides the least compression (and largest file sizes) but best image quality.

Image Size

The Image Size setting sets the size to scale the image to. Several different sizes are provided from 80 x 60 up to 1600 x 1200. The resulting image sizes may be reversed, however, depending on the device orientation when the image is captured (portrait or landscape).

Save To Album

If enabled, the Save To Album option saves each photo to the Photos application's Saved Photos Album.

Overlay Title

The Overlay Title setting allows a title for the photos to be set. The title is displayed on the top left corner of the captured photos.

Overlay Detail

The Overlay Detail settings specifies a detail line that is overlayed on each photo. It is displayed on the bottom right of each captured photo. It can be used to add a copyright, credit, or any other photo details.

Overlay Date/Time

The Overlay Date/Time enables displaying the date and time a photo was captured (if set to on). It is displayed under the title on the top left corner of the photo.

Overlay Location

The Overlay Location switch enables displaying the location each photo was captured at (if set to on). It is displayed under the title and date/time on the top left corner of the photo.
