The
Settings view allows you to configure servers, webcam, image, and overlay settings. It also includes links to contact Tidal Pool Software and write an App Store review. Note that settings may only be modified when not recording.
Connect
The
Server field shows the current server (if any). Tap the field to manage servers. Tap the circle to the right of a server to make it the active server. Tap a server to edit its settings. Tap the
+ or
Add Server button to add a new server.
The first entry is sensr.net. Sensr.net is a webcam image service with great features like motion detection, DVR, alerts, and uploading and sharing images on Facebook and Twitter. The service is free to use and only requires a Facebook account. You can create and manage sensr.net
cameras on their website:
http://sensr.net/
Note that PhoneCam will display a list of all available sensr.net
cameras when you begin recording. Select the
camera that you wish to direct the images to.
The other entries in the server list are custom servers. Any FTP or SFTP server may be used. Enter the connection details and select FTP or SFTP.
The
File Name field shows the current file name to use when uploading images. This setting is only valid when the active server is not sensr.net. Tap a file name to edit the value or tap the
+ or
Add File Name button to add a new file name. Tap the
- button to the left of a file name to delete it. Tap the circle to the right of a file name to make it the active file name.
Webcam
The
Update Interval setting specifies how often to capture an image. The
Manual option allows you to capture an image at arbitrary time intervals. Just press the capture button whenever you want a new image to be captured and uploaded. The
Continuous option will capture and upload images as fast as possible. The
Time option allows you to specify a custom time interval. The capture may be delayed, however, if the previous image is still being processed or uploaded.
The
Replace Images switch specifies whether or not to replace each image after capture. If the switch is enabled, the uploaded image will always replace the previous uploaded image. If the switch is off, each image is given a unique file name when uploaded (e.g. image-1.jpg, image-2.jpg, etc.).
Enable the
Resume File Number setting to automatically increment the file number used. This will check the current list of uploaded file names and continue from the last uploaded file. For example, if the server already contains image-1.jpg and image-2.jpg, the next uploaded image file name will be image-3.jpg if this option is enabled.
The
Use Time Stamp option will append a time stamp to the image file name instead of using file numbers. The time stamp represents the number of seconds from January 1, 1970.
The
Starting File Number setting is the starting number to use when incrementing image file names. For example, if you set this value to 100, the uploaded files will start with image-100.jpg, image-101.jpg, etc..
Note that if sensr.net is the active server, all images are uploaded with time stamps and are not replaced.
Image
The
Image Type setting specifies which image type to use (either
JPEG or
PNG).
PNG provides lossless compression while
JPEG provides smaller file sizes and control over image quality.
JPEG also supports including image and location (if enabled) metadata in the image file itself.
The
Image Quality slider is enabled for
JPEG image types only. Setting it to 0 will result in the greatest compression (and smallest file sizes) but worst image quality while setting it to 100 provides the least compression (and largest file sizes) but best image quality.
The
Image Size setting sets the size of the resulting captured images. The resulting image size may be reversed, however, depending on the device orientation when the image is captured (portrait or landscape). The
Full Size setting uses the maximum available camera resolution.
If enabled, the
Save To Album setting saves each captured image to the
Saved Photos Album.
Overlay
The
Title setting specifies a title to display on each captured image. The title is displayed on the top left of each image.
The
Detail setting specifies a detail line to be displayed on the bottom right of each captured image. It can used to add a copyright, credit, or any other photo details.
The
Date/Time switch enables displaying the date and time an image was captured on the top left corner of the image.
The
Location switch enables displaying the location where each photo was captured (in latitude/longitude coordinates). The location is displayed on the top left corner of each captured image. If enabled, the location is also included in the metadata for
JPEG images.
